After 38 years of working the daily grind, I retired and chose to fill this next chapter with travel. I hail from Seattle, Washington—a place shaped by water, mountains, and a strong sense of exploration—which has always influenced my curiosity about the world beyond home. Stepping away from what’s familiar hasn’t always been easy, but it has opened the door to new experiences and perspectives. Traveling allows me to explore at my own pace, meet people along the way, and stay curious about what’s beyond the next stop. I’m learning as I go and enjoying where the road takes me.
My mission is to explore new places, experience different cultures, and connect with people along the way. Through sharing my travels, I hope to encourage other seniors to see that adventure doesn’t have an age limit. If my journey inspires someone to take that first step, even better. Along the way, I’ll share practical tips and lessons I’ve learned to help make travel feel more approachable and rewarding. This site is about curiosity, connection, and making the most of every mile.
BWOTH stands for Black Walnut On The Hill, named after the black walnut tree in the backyard of my home in the Admiral District of West Seattle. This corner of Seattle has been home base for years and continues to ground me between travels. When I’m not on the road, I spend my time remodeling the house alongside my handyman—a hands-on project that has become an unexpected second chapter of its own. Like travel, it’s a work in progress, shaped by patience, learning, and enjoying the process as much as the outcome.
